Lutheran Health Network paying tribute to military service one patient at a time
11/9/2015
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (November 10, 2015) - In observance of Veterans Day, Lutheran Health Network is personally thanking hospitalized patients at its Allen County facilities who have served in the military by presenting each with small tokens of its everlasting gratitude for sacrifices made in defense of our country.
In addition to his regular bedside visits with veterans, Lutheran Health Network Veterans Affairs Liaison Christopher Judy has been delivering U.S. flags, which are 3 feet by 5 feet, and special desserts.
Hospitalized veterans are also receiving a letter of thanks that reads:
"We at Lutheran Health Network would like to recognize you for your military service to our great nation. It is because of men and women like you that our nation is the freest of any in human history. Since 1919, we have celebrated and honored the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our liberty and freedom. From those that served in the "Battle of the Bulge" to those that served in the "Battles of Fallujah," our veterans have served with honor and dignity; in some instances making the ultimate sacrifice.
On that first Armistice Day, the United States joined other Allied nations to mark the end of World War I. It was to be "the war to end all wars." Yet, as history has proven, the enemies of freedom are persistent. To that, we give thanks to every Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine, and Coast Guardsmen on this 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 2015."
