Lutheran Downtown Nationally Recognized with “A” for Spring 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
5/3/2023
Lutheran Downtown Hospital received an “A” grade in the Spring 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing achievements protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers focused on health care safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns a letter grade to nearly 3,000 U.S. general hospitals based on more than 30 measures of patient safety.
"The Lutheran Downtown Hospital team is very proud of the work put into achieving our Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of ‘A’,” said Cheryl Barr, chief nursing officer. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing compassionate care with excellence to every patient, every time.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated biannually in the fall and spring.
“Our collaborative team of dedicated, experienced professionals is focused every day on patient safety involving falls and hospital-acquired infections along with providing an overall positive patient experience,” said Tina Hook, chief quality officer. “It is our privilege to provide residents in downtown Fort Wayne and our surrounding neighborhoods with the highest level of care."
