Nurses and supporters donate hair for Children With Hair Loss
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (May 6, 2019) - Lutheran Children's Hospital team members and stylists from Pin-Up Curls Salon have again joined forces to support Children With Hair Loss, a nonprofit that provides free wigs to children with hair loss. To support the cause, a cut-a-thon will take place May 13 from 4 to 8 p.m.
To participate, donors must have at least eight inches of hair they are willing to have cut. All hair in good condition will be accepted, including color-treated or gray hair. Hair must be clean, dried and pulled back into a pony-tail or braid the day of the event.
Members of the media are invited to visit as a group of Lutheran Children's Hospital nurses receive haircuts from 10 to 11 a.m. A second opportunity for media with a former LCH patient and wig recipient, as well as other supporters, will take place at 4:30 p.m. Pin-Up Curls Salon is located at 6167 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.
Children With Hair Loss was created as a resource for children with medically-related hair loss who might otherwise not have the financial means of obtaining the hair they want or need. This organization strives to empower children with a degree of self-confidence that will allow them to face the world with renewed self-esteem.
Interested participants may request an appointment by emailing curlsgiveback@gmail.com through Saturday. Walk-ins for this event are also welcome and will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis. Those donating hair will be given a free, complete hair cut by a stylist at the salon.
