Love Lights Shine Bright for Patients

For a second year, community members gathered outside on a cold December night to shine flashlight beams up to the windows of Lutheran Children’s Hospital. On the other side of those windows were eager pediatric patients shining their own light beams right back down at the community. This exchange of lights was more than a festive holiday tradition, but instead, it is a symbol of the community’s love and support for these hospitalized patients during the Christmas season.

As the crowd gathered outside of Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House for the “Love Light, Shine Bright” event, a first-time participant shared that once he heard about this event, he knew he had to attend. In fact, the morning of the walk, he bought two of the brightest flashlights he could find because he wanted each of those kids to know how much they are loved not just during the holidays, but every day.

In addition to the community members on hand, an army of first responders gathered to shine their own love lights at the children’s hospital for these patients. This event is a simple gesture, taking just moments of time, that means a great deal to young patients and their families who may not get to enjoy their usual holiday traditions.
