"Hike with a doc" at Eagle Marsh this Saturday
11/14/2018
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Nov. 15, 2018) - Each season of the year brings with it unique opportunities to see the natural wonders of northeastern Indiana. Saturday's local observance of National Take a Hike Day will offer participants a chance to see for themselves how healthier lifestyles and the beauty of nature often walk hand in hand.
Lutheran Health Physicians cardiologists Scott Mattson, M.D., and Krishnan Ramani, M.D., along with other LHP team members and two trail guides from Little River Wetlands Project, will serve as hosts for this free event that kicks off outside the barn at Eagle Marsh, 6801 Engle Road, at 10 a.m.
Dr. Mattson will give a brief talk prior to the trek. At least two guided distances will be offered, but participants may choose to walk as short or long as they would like.
Preregistration is encouraged but not required. RSVP by calling (260) 425-3087.
In the event that inclement weather forces a cancellation, that update will be communicated on Lutheran Health Network's Facebook page and via an outgoing message at (260) 425-3087.
Free will donations to Little River Wetlands Project are optional and may be made on site. For information about Little River Wetlands Project, visit LRWP.org. There, you'll also find a map of the Eagle Marsh trails.
In September, The American College of Cardiology recognized Lutheran Hospital for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. Lutheran was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence based on meeting accreditation criteria, and through its ongoing performance registry reporting. Lutheran was one of the first seven hospitals in the country to have HeartCARE Center status, which is the ACC's highest recognition.
