Community invited to shine light in support of patients at Lutheran Children's Hospital
12/4/2018
With flashlights in hand, area residents will soon be able to lend moral support and best wishes to hospitalized children this holiday season. The Greater Good, along with Lutheran Children's Hospital and Mad Anthonys Children's Hope House, will host Love Light Shine Bright at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
Those interested in joining this first-of-its-kind gathering for northeastern Indiana are invited to bring their own flashlights to shine up toward the third floor windows of LCH. In return, patients and guests who want to acknowledge the gesture will be provided flashlights by LCH staff so they may shine their own light back to the well-wishers below. Local a cappella group Smooth Edge 2 will also lead Christmas carols as the group walks to different locations on campus.
"The goal is to offer encouragement for children receiving inpatient care, along with their families, at Lutheran Children's Hospital over the holidays," said Jennifer Bermejo, founder of The Greater Good. "The LCH staff has gone above and beyond to make this event happen, which is a direct reflection of their passion for patients' well-being and commitment to our community. We want to give Fort Wayne a chance to personally support the important relationship between these young patients and those who deliver their specialized care."
Everyone is invited to assemble at Mad Anthonys Children's Hope House where hot beverages will be served beginning at 6:30. Free parking is available in the north parking garage, just across from MACHH.
Love Light Shine Bright is inspired by similar events that take place at children's hospitals across the country each year. Visit The Greater Good's Facebook page to learn more.
