Dupont Grants Daughter and Dad A Special Moment
Plans can change in an instant. For one family, plans for a special day to remember the rest of their lives instead turned into a question of whether a father would be able to walk his only daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.
With the big day less than a week away, the bride's father, Rodney Moore, was admitted to Dupont Hospital. "I wanted so badly to get out in time for my daughter's wedding," he stated, but just two days before the nuptials, Moore received heartbreaking news: he was not going to be discharged in time to attend. "My daughter was absolutely heartbroken and the nurses knew I was too," he explained.
What Moore did not know was those same nurses had something special planned for this family. On Sept. 27, just a day before his daughter's wedding, Moore's nurse alerted him that he would be taken down for an X-ray. Still uninformed to any details of the plan, Moore was wheeled down by his nurse and an aide to the chapel where his daughter stood waiting in her wedding gown to surprise her father. To further enhance the moment, the hospital helped to coordinate a father-daughter dance as well as provide cake and flowers.
"Thank you Dupont Hospital for making this happen for my daughter and me," Moore added. "Without the compassion of this hospital's staff, I would not have been able to experience any of this."
